Schema Markup for AI Search: Organization, FAQ and Article

By Akshay Zine, Founder of AuctorisAI · Updated

The short answer

The most useful structured data for AI search is Organization markup, which defines who you are and links your official profiles through sameAs, plus Article and FAQPage markup on pages that really contain those things. Schema helps machines understand a page, but it must match the visible content and does not guarantee rich results or AI citations.

Why does Organization schema matter for GEO?

Organization markup tells search engines your official name, URL, logo, description and contact details. sameAs links connect your website to your LinkedIn, Wikipedia, Crunchbase or other official profiles, which helps systems resolve which entity you are. [1]

When should I use FAQPage markup?

Use FAQPage only on pages that show a list of questions with answers that visitors can see. [2] Do not mark up content that is hidden, promotional or not actually on the page. Google’s structured data guidelines require markup to represent the visible content. [3]

Article markup and authorship

Article markup with a headline, author, publisher and dates helps machines read when and by whom content was published. Show real expertise: name the author, link their profile and date your updates.

  • Add Organization JSON-LD to your homepage.
  • Add Article JSON-LD to guides and blog posts.
  • Add FAQPage only where real Q&A is visible.
  • Validate the markup and re-check it after redesigns.

Generate schema from your real site data

The AuctorisAI Action Report generates Organization JSON-LD from your actual homepage and the official profiles found in live search. It builds FAQPage markup only from Q&A that is already visible on your homepage, so you never mark up content that is not there.

Common questions

Is there special “AI schema”?

No. Google says no special schema is needed for its AI features. Use standard schema.org types that describe your content accurately.

Should I use JSON-LD, Microdata or RDFa?

Google supports all three and recommends JSON-LD because it is the easiest to implement and maintain.
